Getting Fit in 2012

Still at it!

Long time, no post! I’ve been keeping up with my workouts, trying to go at 4 times a week with one of Jillian’s videos and eating as clean as I can. I’m not sure what my weight is right now - I’ve decided to have weigh-in every other week. I want this to be a lifestyle change, not just a mad dash to drop 50 pounds, and I don’t want to rely on a weekly meeting with a scale for the rest of my days.

Something I’m really excited about is when I went back to try level one of The 30 Day Shred, it was enough to get me sweating, but I didn’t have to cheat/modify any of the moves. AT ALL. This includes the push-ups, which killed me before (seriously, I could only do like 3 regular ones!) Now I can do 20 all grown-up push ups in a row. This made me crazy happy, it’s been such a long time since I could! I still hate them, but at least I’m getting better! That was my major acomplishment this week.

BUT THEN.

I’ve been doing a plank about midway through my workout, and today I actually hit 2 minutes. It was AWFUL for the last 15 or so seconds, and my abs were ready to drop out of my stomach, but I finally got there. Been building up to 1:30 before today, but I just really wanted to push it this time! This coupled with my longest wall-sit to date made it quite the occasion. Painful, but I couldn’t help but smile when I was done. (That protein shake tasted like victory)

Best of all? Some of the stomach chub is jumping ship. Muffintop is shrinking! Hit the road, Jack!

Other lame life news: application for really competitive summer apprenticeship sent…they’ll get it by the end of the week. I’m all nerves, but the worst they can do is say no. Sending second choice application by Monday! Wish me luck! <3
